Instructors - Jay Jones

Jay Jones, director, has been studying, practicing and teaching
yoga for many years. In the fall of 1999, she dropped into a Bikram
yoga class in Seattle Washington. She took two classes the first
day and two the second. Injuries of long standing disappeared.
At that point she knew she would never teach anything else.
She bought a tape and a book, and signed up for the 9 week teacher
training, which she completed in June of 2000. As she has often
said, "had I known what the training was about, I would never have
gone; but it was the single best thing that has ever happened in my
life." The first Bikram studio in Salt Lake came about by accident
in June of 2001, and was located in the old Southeast center
(now rubble). The current Sugarhouse Bikram yoga studio has
been at its current location since July 2002.

Jay loves Bikram yoga because it is available to everyone. All one
has to do is come in and 'sweat bullets' for 90 minutes and the
worst of one’s aches, pains and troubles begin to change forever.
Teachers tell students what to do, how to do it and the physical
result of doing it. Spirituality comes in its own time. As Bikram
says, "Never to old, too sick, too fat, too out of shape, too
anything to start from the scratch once again. Better to suffer
in a hot room for ninety minutes than to suffer in life for 90
years."
